The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Care Range | Mini Review

Today we’re talking about some of the best anti-acne skin care products out there …

The Tea Tree Range by The Body Shop

If you’ve been with me for a while now, you’ll know that my skin has been troublesome for over a year. Out of nowhere I had this really terrible acne bout that to be honest has gotten better over the last couple of months (touchwood), but has still not completely left me alone (sadly)!

If you’ve ever experienced adult acne, you will know that it’s not easy to treat, and so when I was looking everywhere for answers as to why my skin was acting up & products that could help calm it down & maybe even treat my skin, I came across The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Care Range.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Care Range Review

These products have been a part of my skincare routine for months & months now, so I thought I’d share them with you.

The Body Shop TEA TREE SQUEAKY CLEAN SCRUB

The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub Review

“This skin-clearing facial scrub combines micro-fine exfoliants with bursting beads to help unclog pores without over-drying. Use a few times a week for skin that feels super clean and instantly smooth.

  • Suitable for blemished skin
  • Skin instantly feels soft, smooth and super clean
  • Pores look visibly clearer and face feels purified”

I’ve been religiously using this as a face-wash for the last year & it’s gentle enough for daily exfoliation. I use it everyday in the morning and follow it up with the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner.

It smells very fresh & invigorating…. wakes me up & really does what it says- make my skin feel squeaky clean!

The Body Shop TEA TREE SKIN CLEARING TONER

The body shop tea tree skin clearing toner review

“This refreshing toner for blemished skin gives a beautifully matte, shine-free finish.

  • Removes traces of make-up, cleanser and impurities
  • Mattifying powders leave skin shine-free
  • Clinically proven to give clearer-looking skin”

This is Step 2 in my skin care routine. I usually shake the bottle to activate the toner and either take a splash on my bare (read CLEAN) hands & tap it into my skin using my fingers or I’ll douse a cotton pad with the toner & apply on my skin.

My skin definitely feels tingly when I use this toner & I’ve also noticed it feels dry…like it’s craving some moisture….so if you already have dry skin – beware!

The Body Shop TEA TREE SKIN CLEARING LOTION & TEA TREE BLEMISH FADE NIGHT LOTION

The Body Shop TEA TREE SKIN CLEARING LOTION & TEA TREE BLEMISH FADE NIGHT LOTION

“A light, non-oily moisturising lotion for blemished skin. For use after your Tea Tree cleansing regime.

  • Provides lightweight hydration
  • Easily absorbed
  • With shine control for a matte finish
  • Antibacterial action
  • Clinically proven to give clear skin”

AND

“A lightweight, soothing gel-crème for blemished skin.

  • Replenishes moisture overnight
  • Leaves skin looking matte
  • Antibacterial action
  • Clinically proven to give clearer-looking skin”

Step 3 is to follow up with a good moisturiser & give the skin a hydration boost. Both of these lotions are quite creamy in texture & sink into the skin quickly.

The Body Shop TEA TREE OIL

The body shop tea tree oil review
“Targeted care for blemished skin. Can be used direct on skin.

  • Soothing
  • Has antibacterial properties
  • Does not dry out skin”

The last step in my daily skin care routine is this oil. I use it over active acne as well as blemishes. I feel it does quite a brilliant job at calming my breakouts & also helps them dry quicker.

Personally, I’ve mixed this oil in with my lotions for the day-time & also in my foundation several times & it does work beautifully.

The Body Shop TEA TREE FACE MASK

The Body Shop TEA TREE FACE MASK review

“This instantly cooling face mask cleanses, soothes and refreshes the skin.

  • Helps remove impurities
  • Absorbs excess oil
  • Soothes skin”

I love this mask for several reasons – yes, it’s instantly refreshing & cooling on the skin… it really soothes my skin & the best part about this tea tree mask is that it doesn’t dry & tug at your skin like traditional face masks.

I use it once a week & leave it on for about half an hour. You can either rinse it with lukewarm water or I feel personally for me it works better if I take a face towel, soak it in warm water & then gently rub it off my skin (it helps to exfoliate).

The Body Shop TEA TREE FLAWLESS BB CREAM

The body shop TEA TREE FLAWLESS BB CREAM review

“Perfect your complexion and fight the look of blemishes with our Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream. This dual action cream gives you flawless coverage whilst tackling the appearance of blemishes. Formulated with purifying Community Fair Trade organic tea tree oil from Kenya. – Blemishes and imperfections are instantly covered – Lightweight formula gives shine-free complexion – 3 shades blend seamlessly into all skin tones for natural-looking coverage”

If i’m honest, I’m not in love with this bb cream. I use Shade 02 & feel that their shade range is very small so it’s difficult to find a perfect match. Also, I feel the formula to be quite drying & to top that it sticks to dry patches on the skin.

One way that this works for me is if I mix a few drops of the Tea Tree oil with it or the Day-time Lotion.

So that’ll be all for today…. let me know if you’ve tried any of these products or any other range from The Body Shop & what your experiences have been. I honestly LOVE this brand & I think I’m going to stick with it for a veryyyy long time 🙂

First Impression + Review | Dermal Royal Jelly Collagen Essence Mask

We’re a few days into the week & it’s time to put on a mask & spa on!

Today I tried a new brand of sheet masks from Korea called Dermal & so this post is going to be all about my First Impressions/Review of the Dermal Royal Jelly Collagen Essence Mask

Dermal Royal Jelly Collagen Essence Mask

About the Brand:

“DERMAL is a popular brand with young people, because of its fine quality and moderate prices, nowadays has become Korea’s top-selling skin-care product and manufacturer, its natural ingredients, rich in fruit and herbal extracts with different effective in improving skin quality. Last but not least, Dermal granted Quality Awards in Korea, it is no doubt about quality standard.”

Dermal Royal Jelly Collagen Essence Mask Review

First things first, I really liked the packaging of these masks… very simple yet colourful & bright.

As you can see in the image, the mask has three specific benefits mentioned on it –

Nutrition – Moisturizing – Refining

Description

DERMAL ESSENCE MASK is a new essence mask which specially formulates cosmetics to penetrate highly concentrated active ingredients into the skin while keeping air out of the skin completely thus, it makes your tired skin moistened, elastic, clear and relieves your skin from stress.

Ingredients

Dermal Royal Jelly Collagen Essence Mask Ingredients

What it promises:

  • Contains Royal Jelly extract which is a complex of various kinds of micro elements such as protein, fat, carbohydrate, water & etc, thus , it provides nutrition to tired and troubled skin and keeps the skin always healthy and soft.
  • Vitamin E and Collagen- provides skin nutrition & makes it appear healthy and elastic.
  • Acts as a Mini Cleanup

Does it deliver? My thoughts?

Totally! I fell in LOVE with this mask.

The sheet mask was drenched in essence, but not the kinds that starts to drip all over you & make a mess. The essence on this mask was clear & thick in consistency.

The quality & texture of the mask is good – it’s thick, but very soft at the same time.

Dermal Royal Jelly Collagen Essence Sheet Mask

I think as for fit, this is probably the BEST fitting mask for me so far from the ones I’ve tried. As you can see in the pictures, the sheet has slits in various places for the mask to lay on your skin perfectly.

For once the eye & mouth holes on a mask were Perfect for my face! The corners of the eye holes lay just ‘right’ on my face so there was no discomfort or pokiness around the eyes.

The Dermal Royal Jelly Sheet Mask feels instantly cooling & soothing on the skin. I felt no irritation or itchiness the whole time I had this on.

Once my 25 minutes were up, I took the mask off and patted the excess essence on my skin….& my skin just drank it up!

I also love the fact that the essence is not sticky at all, so when you remove the sheet mask you won’t even feel any product sitting on your skin.

Dermal Royal Jelly Collagen Essence Mask Texture

Now as for what I did NOT like about this sheet mask – the fragrance. Right when I opened the pack I could immediately smell the fragrance & to be honest not a natural, pleasant fragrance…this smelt quite like a nail polish.

It smells nothing like honey, so be prepared for that. The scent however goes away in 2 minutes or less, so it’s not a deal-breaker for me personally.

Rating– 4.5/5

Would I recommend this product?

Absolutely. I’m going to get my hands on plenty more of these Dermal Royal Jelly Collagen Essence Masks.

And last but not the least, here’s a totally embarrassing (read Scary!) picture of me with the mask on!

NYX Micro Brow Pencil | Review

‘ When I was little, I never knew eyebrows would be this important’…

… Hell, if I knew I would’ve taken it easy as a teenager…. years & years of having over plucked my brows! Oh, come on ….I bet you’re guilty of it too! ;P

One of the trends that has been really interesting over the years is how the whole ‘Eyebrow’ game has changed – right from the Hairy Tick of the 1950’s, the Super High Arch of the 60’s, the Low & Loose in the 70’s to the Big & Heavy in the 80’s (thanks to Cindy Crawford!), we saw the Sweet’n Low in the 90’s, the High Brow in the 2000’s and finally the Hairy Moly that we’re all obsessed with in 2016!

If you ask me which one appeals the most to be, I’d pick the Hairy Moly, aka the Natural Brow. I feel it’s the most beautiful & agreeable shape for everyone….no matter what your face shape or age.

When I got involved with makeup a few years ago, I had no clue how important the brows were in really framing the face…. and to be honest I’ve reached a stage where I’m totally comfortable having NO makeup on my face & just filling in my brows a little…you see the brows are my ‘must-have‘ for me on the face!

With a zillion products floating in the market to help you get that perfect brow, I too thought it’s time to try one of the fine-tip brow pencils… & the first one I chose was the NYX Micro Brow Pencil.

It must have been my lucky day, ‘coz I ended up with my ‘PERFECT’ brow product! ❤

NYX Micro Brow Pencil Review

Description
“Build full beautiful brows with our ultra-thin Micro Brow Pencil. So precise it coats even the finest hairs with color for a natural-looking finish.”

Ingredients
Polyethylene, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate, Hydrogenated Coco-Glycerides, Ozokerite, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, C20-40 Alcohols, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax/Candelilla Cera/Cire de Candelilla, Zinc Stearate, Microcrystalline Wax/Cera Microcristallina/Cire Microcrystalline, Dimethicone, Sorbitan Tristearate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Glyceryl Caprylate. MAY CONTAIN / PEUT CONTENIR (+/-): Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, 77492, 77499), Ferric Ammonium Ferrocyanide (CI 77510).

My Thoughts
There’s nothing about the NYX Micro Brow Pencil that I do not LOVE. Let’s just start with that.

NYX Micro Brow Pencil Review

The packaging is a 10/10 for me. It’s sleek, convenient and very practical. The long, thin tube has a fine-tip pencil on one side & a spoolie on the other end. Not to forget, this brow pencil is sturdy, ideal for travel & can be chucked into the slimmest clutch bag!

NYX Micro Brow Pencil Review

NYX Micro Brow Pencil Review

The texture again is a winner for me. It’s stiff & creamy at the same time. Glides on really smooth & effortlessly. The best part is that it’s not over-the-top pigmented, which means that if you’re a beginner, there’s a slim chance you’ll ever go overboard with this one.

Longevity is fantastic…it lasts on me all day till the very end when I wash it off.

Application is again quick & easy. You can create both carved & bold brows or the everyday natural wispy brows, depending on how hard you’re pressing down on the pencil.

NYX Micro Brow Pencil Review

The color range is pretty decent too – there’s a total of 8 shades to choose from:

  • Ash Brown
  • Taupe
  • Blonde
  • Auburn
  • Chocolate
  • Brunette
  • Expresso
  • Black

The one that I have is Black. It’s the perfect match for my dark brows & I know you might think oh-no black sounds too much, trust me, it’s not that pigmented!

And finally, here’s the Before & After pictures because this post won’t be complete without it….my apologies for the awkward images!

Tarte Brush Review

‘You cannot achieve good makeup without good tools.”

….so says one of the most renowned & influential makeup artists in the fashion industry…François Narsa man who has worked with the likes of Linda Evangelista & Naomi Campbell.

Tarte Brushes
“You cannot achieve good makeup without good tools.”-François Nars

It’s so true that a makeup brush is just like an extension of your hand…your fingers…the very fundamental tool for application…be that for a true makeup artist or an amateur.

To be honest, I’m somewhat of a makeup brush hoarder…or collector…I own over a 100 brushes & still when I see a beautiful brush, my heart melts & I give in! There was a time when I didn’t know any other way to apply my makeup, but to use my fingers, and ever so often would not be happy with how it all turned out in the end…until I saved enough to buy my first set of makeup brushes & my Life Changed as I know it!

I am in no way saying that you must have dozens of makeup brushes & tools, nor I am saying there’s anything wrong with applying makeup with your fingers, but if you’re anyone who’s used a good quality makeup brush/tool, then you’ll know exactly where I’m coming from.

Today I thought I’d share with you my most Favourite Makeup Brushes of all time from my collection…so here they are…my Tarte Brushes!

Tarte Brushes
Tarte Brushes

Like I said before, I love to collect makeup brushes & as of now my collection includes Sigma makeup brushes (click here & here to read my reviews), Real Techniques makeup brushes, Nars makeup brushes, Ecotools makeup brushes, Everyday Minerals makeup brushes & then my favourite Tarte makeup brushes. Of all that I have in my collection, I love my Tarte brushes the most & reach for them most often.

I have here 4 of my absolute must-haves…for they are the softest makeup brushes I have ever used. All of these Tarte brushes have a beautiful design & sturdy structure, with Bamboo handles. These makeup brushes are not only easy to use, but have also been tailored to give you the most precise application.

Another reason I love them so much is that these are 100% cruelty free makeup brushes, all of which have synthetic hair and natural bamboo handles. They have the brand name engraved on each brush & the gold ferrules just take my breath away for they look so luxurious & classy.

The ones that I’ve chosen to show you today are mostly face brushes & are quite versatile…so I’m going to stop rambling now & give you a closer look…

The Slenderizer Bamboo Contouring Brush by Tarte:

Tarte the slenderizer bamboo contouring brush
The Slenderizer Bamboo Contouring Brush by Tarte

This brush is one that I’ve used more than any other because it is so versatile & multi-functional. As you can see, it’s a double-ended brush which works great for contouring & gives you that seamless sculpted cheekbones in just a matter of seconds. I use this mostly with a cream contour product, but it works equally well with a powder formula to give you a slimmer face shape.

The brush has a ‘slanted’ side that is much fuller & is packed with synthetic bristles, while on the other side it has a smaller ‘dome’ shaped set of bristles which help you to blend & buff-in the contour. The handle on this makeup brush is made from harvested bamboo, which makes it very light and easy to hold.

I also use this brush for applying my foundation and use the denser, slanted side to buff in my liquid/cream foundation & then use the dome shaped side of the brush to buff in my concealer under the eyes. It works great with liquid & cream products & I swear it is the SOFTEST brush that I have ever come across till date.

The Airbuki Bamboo Powder Foundation Brush by Tarte:

TARTE Airbuki Bamboo Powder Foundation Brush

This tiny little kabuki brush from Tarte is one that sits in my makeup bag & is ideal for touch-ups. Once again, an insanely soft brush, the airbuki is versatile & can be used to apply foundation, powder as well as bronzer. I tend to use this the most to set my makeup with powder, all over the face or to apply my mineral/powder foundation. This too is a cruelty-free makeup brush & is extremely densely packed with short, synthetic bristles that pick up just the right amount of product & buff it into the skin to give you that airbrushed effect.

The Bamboo Foundation Brush by Tarte:

Tarte Bamboo Foundation Brush

This brush was included in the Tarte Shades of Clay Amazonian Colored Clay 7-Piece set. I couldn’t find a link to this anywhere, so I believe that it isn’t available anymore. I think it would be fair to say that this is the most uniquely shaped brush I own. As you can see the handle on this one is very long & tapers to a point almost at the end. The head is comparatively smaller than all the other brushes, but the bristles are very densely packed and short, so it gives you a beautiful application. Because it is tapered, you can easily reach the hard-to-get places on your face like under the eyes & around the nose.

This is my favourite brush for liquid foundations as it blends in the product beautifully. Thanks to the smallish size, I always end up using lesser product than I usually would if I were using anything else.

Also, if you’re someone who has a small face and/or likes to work in sections on your face when applying makeup, making sure everything is seamlessly blended, then this brush is going to be your new best friend!

The Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush by Tarte:

Tarte Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush
Tarte Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush

Can we take a moment & talk about what a beauty this is!? Seriously guys, this brush is like a piece of art! It was a part of the Tarte Journey to Natural Beauty Collection set & once again I’m sorry but I cannot find a link for it.

The handle on this one is just gorgeous…it is a bamboo handle once again that has been covered in a woven fabric that is somewhat of a zigzag pattern. This brush is perfect for applying all kinds of foundations- be that liquid, cream or powder;  great for applying bronzer- all over the face as well as for a light dusting on the body. It makes makeup application so easy, thanks to the millions of densely packed, super soft synthetic bristles.

So that’s it guys, four of my absolute favourite makeup brushes…i’d recommend that you try them out if you can get your hands on them. I promise you they are the softest, most beautifully constructed brushes out there…& they wash like a dream! What more could a girl want!? ;P

See you all in my next one…Love! xoxo

Mask of Magnaminty by LUSH (My Favourite Thing No. 2)

It’s that time of the year when everyone’s talking about ‘favourites’! And so, we are too ;P

This favourite of mine is something that’s for everyone out there…like literally EVERYONE! And for once I’m really excited because even the ‘men’ can relate to and actually USE this favourite…isn’t that a win-win!? 🙂

Let me explain… no this isn’t a ‘makeup’ favourite…instead, it’s a Skincare favourite 🙂

Skincare is something that people are increasingly becoming aware of and are interested in….be that someone in their 30’s or even as young as 14. What’s even more interesting is that men today are coming out of the shell and embracing skincare products more than ever before (I mean seriously, rugged IS sexy, but who doesn’t like a man who’s clean and well-groomed!?)

So without me rambling any further, let’s see what is today’s favourite…

Mask of Magnaminty by LUSH
‘Mask of Magnaminty’ by LUSH

Mask of Magnaminty Face and Body Mask by LUSH!

I have terribly sensitive and oily skin that’s prone to break outs and rashes, so it wasn’t a surprise that my love for makeup din’t go down too well with my dear skin (and it does remind me that every now & then!). On a recent trip with my dear hubby, we walked into a lush store and the lady there recommended I try out the Mask of Magnaminty when I told her i was looking for a face mask that would draw out the oil from my skin and help clear out spots.

I’ve used it for over a month now and am totally and absolutely in love with it!

Mask of Magnaminty Face and Body Mask
‘Mask of Magnaminty’ Face and Body Mask

Mask of Magnaminty is not face cleanser or exfoliant that can be used daily, it’s a face and body mask that cleanses from deep within. As the name suggests, it is a Peppermint (minty) mask and has China Clay in it that helps to draw out impurities from deep within your skin.

Mask of Magnaminty (Ingredients)
Mask of Magnaminty – Ingredients

The first time i used this mask i was surprised (in a good way) because it feels tingly when you apply it…somewhat like when you use a mouthwash! Haha! The scent is very fresh and natural (mint like, obviously!), but not overpowering or uncomfortable. If you’re someone who has acne marks on their face and feels that a deep clean of pores is what will help, then this is for you 🙂

Mask of Magnaminty (Texture)
Mask of Magnaminty – Texture

You can see here that the mask has a texture to it and that’s because it contains tons of aduki beans in it which helps to exfoliate and get rid of dry, flaky skin. There’s also vanilla absolute in the mask along with honey to help calm down redness in skin and soothe it.

Mask of Magnaminty (Aduki Beans)
Aduki Beans in Mask of Magnaminty

Because the texture is grainy, you’ll need to apply the Mask of Magnaminty very generously on your skin, or else you’ll end up with a patchy application. Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes and you’ll see how it pulls all the oils and dirt to the surface of the skin.

Mask of Magnaminty (How to Use)
Squeaky Clean Skin in Minutes!

I prefer and recommend that you use a flannel soaked in warm water to wash this mask as rubbing it off with your fingers might irritate your skin. Not to forget that the warm flannel will also help to open pores of the skin and clean out impurities better.

Lush Mask Of Magnaminty Review
Lush ‘Mask Of Magnaminty’ – Close-Up

Mask of Magnaminty for me is the ‘King of all face masks’, it is intense and at the same time soothing (definitely not abrasive or harsh). I highly recommend that you give it a try and see the results. I use this mask twice a week and can already see how much it’s helping my skin.

Mask of Magnaminty (Kinf of Masks)
The King of Masks!

Unlike some products from lush, you needn’t refrigerate this mask, but being a handmade product it does have an expiry date, so be aware of that and keep that in mind when you pick up a tub of this mask.

Lastly, I’ve said this before on my blog, but I’ll say it again…I despise animal testing & do NOT support brands or products that test on animals in any way…it’s a thought that boils my blood and makes me feel sick in the stomach.

Let's Fight Animal Testing - LUSH
Let’s Fight Animal Testing – Spread the Word

This is an attempt to spread the word that natural is definitely the way to go and for that reason too LUSH is a brand that is on the top of my list of favourites! If you too support ‘no animal testing’, please share this post & let’s help each other reach the people!

Let me know if you’ve tried the Mask of Magnaminty and what has been your experience with it…and also give me recommendations on what else i should try out next from their range!

Love you all! xoxo
